About the Systems and Infrastructure Engineer role
Our client is looking for a Systems & Infrastructure Engineer whose role will be to maintain and develop their computing infrastructure. The majority of the time will be spent developing and managing infrastructure including secure web servers, mail servers, package management (Linux), their website, backups and security. It will also entail ensuring the stability and security of their servers, both internal Linux networks as well as maintaining cloud-hosted, multicore speech recognition servers. Based on your experience you will also ensure that code updates and new language packs are integrated with their systems (release management).
You will be expected to build and enhance automated systems that are robust to failure amidst rapid growth and change, with a constant focus on customer facing service availability and debugging of any issues arising. You will be required to interface with all team members on a daily basis. There is an existing team in place to support you, but in the long term they are looking for someone to be proactive and take responsibility for the systems themselves.
You will ensure that developments by the research team are smoothly integrated with client facing systems as well as feeding back system requirements (disk, CPU, memory) for further developments.
You must be self-motivated with a proven track record in Systems & IT infrastructure management.
